Money is not a motivation to foster, however we pay a competitive allowance.

Allowance payments are made every 2 weeks and will be a minimum of £600.00 per week per child or young person (unless siblings)
The allowance is to cover all costs for the day to day living of the child or young person such as clothing, food, activities and unforgettable memories. We do not stipulate what the allowance is to cover and can contribute to the general household expenses.

Within the allowance is a professional fee for the Foster parents to acknowledge their hard work and commitment.

Foster parents are self employed and will therefore need to ensure they submit tax calculations and NI contributions yearly. Dependent on amount of children or young people placed very little tax will be paid as fostering is classed as a charity in the tax calculations.

You may also be eligible for certain benefits or already claiming, the fostering allowance is not taken into account for these.
